What is Codename: Sailor V?

Codename: Sailor V (コードネームはセーラーV) a.k.a. Codename wa Sailor V is a manga (Japanese comic book) series by Naoko Takeuchi focusing on a 13 year old girl named Minako Aino and her alter ego, Sailor V: fighter of crime. She discovers her destiny to fight the Dark Agency when she comes across a talking white cat named Artemis.

This story formed the basis of hit series, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. After Sailor V, Minako joined the senshi as Sailor Venus.

Translations

Currently there's only a handful of translations of Sailor V. In March 2011, the Anime News Network reported that Kodansha Comics USA will be issuing English translations of the deluxe edition of the Sailor V manga along with the whole Sailor Moon saga.

Codename: Sailor V was to be adapted to an anime but Naoko decided to change the format to a group therefore creating Sailor Moon. Sailor V has made several appearances in the Sailor Moon anime before changing to Sailor Venus. She has also appeared in the live action series exclusive to Japan.
