I recently transferred to a new distro of Linux - Ubuntu. My bro put KDE on for me Yay! I was quite angry with my laptop. For some reason it kept crashing when it supposedly got to about 90c but since I uninstalled the CPU monitor it has stopped. Weird, it didn't do that in Debian. Quite happy with Ubuntu though. It seems a popular choice within the Linux community. There's plenty of decent software and great support.
Got Sam & Max the animated series at the beginning of the month and watched all the episodes in one sitting on the same day. Slightly disappointed with it as it basically is a watered down version of the awesome comics. I can't believe Fox suggested to make Max a girl. Sorry no, Max isn't a gender bender! I am waiting for a new series with lots of violence and language just like the original comics. Please?
I finally got around to buying Acid Black Cherry's Black List. It's such an awesome album! Totally in love with Spell Magic - after all it is their debut single and the first song I listened to. Been a fan since their debut, just like abingdon boys school.
I've been trying to get Sam & Max Season One working in Linux (again). I managed to play episodes one - three by "special" methods in Debian but episodes four - six have errors will not run. Since I'm now on Ubuntu now (with a newer version of WINE) I tried the same ones without any luck. I heard someone got them all working in the exact same version of WINE and Ubuntu, but trust my luck for them not to work for me. My first attempt with the tutorial I found on Telltale's Forum (without nuking) gave an error in Securom. The second gave a new error asking me to insert the DVD into the drive even though it was in there (I know that I installed the wrong patch by accident!). Third attempt removing WINE through the Synaptic Package Manager gave the same error as the last attempt. So I tried again at the weekend pretty much doing what I though was best with a newer version of WINE and got a lot further. It starts loading (great start) but just freezes on the opening black screen. I'm thinking it's my graphic card drivers :S Anyone know any decent ones for ATI Radeon for my crappy laptop?
I'm getting a Tengu for my birthday! It's a USB device when connected to a computer it lip-syncs to your music for example. Pretty neat. Can't wait to try it out, especially to my Japanese music. Only a few months to wait. I'm glad it works on Linux or I wouldn't have bothered with it.
Finished my dissertation over a week ago. What a bugger that was. I was given an extra five days to complete it. Managed to write 6000 words in that time, ending up with over 9000. You are allowed 10% either way from 10000. Glad it's over with now. I'm sort of proud of it, it could be better. I'm no good writing things like that
